Common Problems with Dishwashers and How We Fix Them

If your dishwasher isn’t cleaning dishes correctly, there are a few things that might be causing the problem. Fortunately, most common dishwasher problems can be easily fixed at home without calling a repairman.

One of the most common problems is that the dishwasher isn’t getting enough water. This can be caused by a clogged water inlet screen or a faulty water inlet valve. To check for a clogged water inlet screen, remove the hose from the back of the dishwasher and see if water is flowing freely through it. If not, then you’ll need to clean or replace the screen. A faulty water inlet valve can also cause low water pressure, and will need to be replaced by a professional.

Another common problem is that dishes aren’t getting clean because the spray arm holes are blocked. The first step is to check whether anything is blocking the holes (such as pieces of food). If nothing appears to be blocking them, then it’s likely that mineral deposits have built up inside and you’ll need to soak the spray arm in vinegar to dissolve them.

If your dishwasher is leaving spots on dishes or not draining properly, this could be due to a clogged drain line. First, check for any food or debris caught in the drain strainer at the bottom of the tub. If there doesn’t appear to be anything blocking it, then pour a cup of vinegar down the drain line and let it sit for an hour before running
